Drywood Termites

Drywood Termites are social insects that feed on wood and live in colonies within the wood. They make their nests in the wood itself as well as use the wood as a food source. Colonies range from up to several thousands, which can cause substantial damage. Drywood termites prefer to hide in areas that are inaccessible, such as: rafters, eaves and deep inside walls and flooring. Drywood termites typically gain access to a structure by entering small holes. Since termite colonies grow slowly, it can take years before a drywood termite problem is discovered by a homeowner. Drywood Termites can be found in sub areas, attics and baseboards. They also infest bathrooms, where moisture is readily available.

Termite Control

A termite infestation can be one of a homeowner’s most common complaints. Your home is 10 times more likely to be damaged by termites than by a fire. It is estimated that 1 in 30 homes incur termite damage. According to Pest World, termites can cause over 5 billion dollars in annual property damage. There are two species of termites that infest structures in Southern California. These are both drywood and subterranean termites.

A termite inspection consists of a preset appointment time with a licensed termite inspector who will inspect your home and property. DeBolt's Termite & Pest Control, Inc. offers free limited termite inspections for homeowners. We also can provide a complete inspection, by request, or an inspection for escrow purposes. A complete inspection is always recommended. Please contact us for pricing to schedule your complete inspection.

What to Expect When We Inspect:

A licensed termite inspector will conduct a thorough inspection of the typical termite entry points to look for signs of termite activity.

Once your inspection is complete, your termite inspector will recommend the right termite solution for your home.

Subterranean Termites

Subterranean Termites are social insects and are commonly found in soil and wooden structures requiring wood for food and soil for moisture. Subterranean termites nest underground, in what is known as a “crown colony.” These crown colonies infest structures at a distance, setting up satellite termite colonies in your structure.Subterranean termites build mud tubes as shelter while traveling from the soil into a structure. These mud tubes are necessary structures that protect these soft-bodied insects from losing water rapidly. Subterranean termites can be found in sub areas, attics, and baseboards. Subterranean termites will also enter buildings through cracks in the cement slab or expansion joints. Typically, Subterranean termites will be found in the bathroom or where high moisture content is readily available.
